GOLD CALL SYSTEM :
=================
Doctor H. says:
In 1997, I added this second handicapping version. I hesitated to do this because the original system had been tried for 44 years and I know that it works. I also did not want to confuse the average horseplayer, but this is for the advanced horseplayer. Over the years, it was obvious that at some tracks, the Helfman Formula was not as powerful as at others. This is because the original system is a pace system. It works great at tracks that are front running tracks or the so-called speed tracks. But at tracks that were not speed tracks, I thought I needed a more sophisticated analysis. This second system actually shows the position of the horses at all of the calls (The second call, the stretch call, and the finish). You can almost see the entire race in your mind. The bet would be the first four finishers for exactas or quinellas. I have increased the number of winning percentages of trifectas that win, however the big boxcar winners still seem to come from the original system.
I suggest that you become familiar with your track and evaluate which system works better. Also the new system seems to do well when the track is drying out or an off track.
Note: When horses scratch, just ignore that horse and the other horses slide up the list.
Unfortunately, because of a lack of statistics, first time starters cannot be rated, however foreign shippers provide sufficient statistics so that they can be rated with the Gold formula, unlike the Predict formula.
